Dog Standards, a healthy dog food delivery startup, is launching throughout Canada today

Key takeaways:

  • Pet owners have grown accustomed to putting their trust in commercial pet food brands that prioritise profit before wellness.

Today marks the official debut of a Toronto-based dog food company. The company will be one of the first in Canada to offer human-grade, vet-developed, and preservative-free dog food directly to consumers across the country.

“Dog Standards was created as a direct response to the dog food industry’s lack of openness and regulation.” “The industry hasn’t evolved in over 50 years, and we thought we could offer something better and more convenient for Canadians,” said Jessica Bevilacqua, Founder of Dog Standards.

“Canadians now regard their dogs to be members of the family more than ever before.” “As dog parents ourselves, we are dedicated to giving Canadians a brand they can rely on,” Bevilacqua added.

Pet owners have grown accustomed to putting their trust in commercial pet food brands that prioritise profit before wellness. As a result, over 70% of dog owners say they don’t know what’s in the food they give their dogs.

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) establishes pet food standards. For example, it declares that meat labelled 4-D (dead, dying, diseased, or handicapped) may be used in dog food if rendered at high heat and pressure.

Because of this absence of industry-wide quality assurance, a brand like Dog Standards is critical.

Dog Standards is on a mission to educate dog owners about the health benefits of feeding fresh food to their dogs, allowing them to live healthier, happier lives.

All Dog Standards meal plans are personalised based on each dog’s breed, age, weight, and activity level to provide a comprehensive and balanced diet.

Dog Standards presently has three recipes available: turkey, beef, and chicken. All recipes are created in commercial-grade facilities in Canada and sent in recyclable packaging with dry ice to keep their dishes chilled while shipping across the country.

ABOUT CANINE STANDARDS

Dog Standards creates and distributes fresh food programmes for dogs to their owners’ doors across Canada.

Our meal exceeds the criteria currently accepted in the dog food business since it is made with entire, human-grade ingredients, is freshly prepared, and is free of preservatives. We’re on a mission to make dogs healthier and happier by making it easy to serve fresh food.
